Klearwax Cleans Ears

Klearwax Cleans Ears
When you encounter an ear canal that is filled with cerumen, a thorough ear cleaning (preferably using a video otoscope - see Medrx- under anesthesia) is indicated. A product that is very helpful for softening and breaking up the cerumen is the aptly named KlearWax™. After taking your diagnostic samples, the ear canal is filled and massaged with KlearWax™, and a cotton ball temporarily inserted to occlude the canal orifice. The 5% dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate (DSS) and 5% urea peroxide work together to soften and dislodge the wax, which is then much easier to flush out after 5-10 minutes using MalAcetic® or TrizEDTA™. Thorough flushing with one of these antimicrobial products or saline is recommended after the use of KlearWax™.
