What is GMP?

Products Available Now!

While other manufacturer's products continue to be backordered, DermaPet is proud to offer a stable supply of topicals - including the key products you are looking for, from every key vet distributor. Please see below.

Mal-A-Ket contains 2% chlorhexidene and 1% ketoconazole. Ketoconazole is 15x more potent than miconazole and has exponentially greater affinity for epidermal cells. 1% acetic acid is added for it's stabilizing effects on ketoconazole, not to mention it's primary effects. This product is available in wipes and shampoo.

TrizEDTA is the only USP version of tris-edta in an aqueous solution. TrizULTRA is tris-edta with .15% ketoconazole, which has 50% more keto than the competitor’s product. For resistant bacterial cases, we offer TrizPLUS, which contains .15% chlorhexidene.

DERMABENSs contains micronized and stabilized benzoyl peroxide with sulfur potentiated by salicylic acid.

DermaLyte is a hypoallergenic shampoo with no soap, dye or animal protein and a natural coconut oil fragrance.

DermAllay has oatmeal extract added to the DermaLyte.

MalAcetic is our patented 2% acetic and 2% boric acid combination. This product is available in an otic, shampoo, spray and wipes.

MalAcetic ULTRA contains 1% acetic, 2% boric, .15% ketoconazole and 1% hydrocortisone. This product is available in an otic, spray and shampoo.

A MalAcetic HC wipe is also available. This combination is MalAcetic with hydrocortisone added.

EicosaDerm is an omega 3 fatty acid supplement with putrecine extracted. It has 360 mg of EPA and 240 DHA per pump. The dose is 1 pump per 20 pound dogs and cats. EicosaCaps are a mixture of omega 3/6 fatty acids with antioxidants.

LimePlus Dip is a concentrate of lime sulfur.

AVMA Seattle

This meeting was an outstanding success in terms of attendance, weather, program and location. The exhibit hall was busy as was the path to the Pike Market where attendees enjoyed their share of fresh fish, vegetables, flowers, candy and souvenirs. PATRICK RAYBURN and JESSICA worked the booth. Jess ate so much salmon we wondered about the clinical signs of mercury toxicity.

JOHN ANGUS joined us for a dinner where we drank a delicious bottle of wine. We enjoyed seeing many, including behaviorists GARY LANDSBERG and DEB HOROWITZ. PETER EMILY reminisced about our winning experience at this year's Kentucky Derby. Merial kindly provided us with tickets to a very entertaining NATASHA BEDINGFIELD. We enjoyed meeting with PATRICK CUTBIRTH, our LSU student representative, and looked for reps from other vet schools where do we do not already have one.

Controlling Staph Infections

Many companies have products that claim they "control" Staph infections. Now, DermaPet's MalAcetic products have been demonstrated to actually kill the main pathogenic bacteria that colonizes dog's skin. To my knowledge, no other topical vet ethical product can make this statement.

This study shows that 0.5%-2% acetic and 0.5-2% boric acids (which are found in: MalAcetic Shampoo/Conditioner/Otic, MalAcetic HC Wipes, MalAcetic ULTRA Shampoo/Conditioner/ Otic) exert a bactericidal effect against Staph pseudintermedius, which is a bacteria commonly involved in pyoderma and otitis externa and other infections in dogs. DermaPet has a composition patent on the mixture of acetic and boric acids.

What is GMP?

GMP refers to the Good Manufacturing Practice Regulations promulgated by the US Food and Drug Administration under the authority of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. These regulations, which have the force of law, require that manufacturers, processors and packagers of drugs, medical devices, some food and blood take proactive steps to ensure that their products are safe, pure and effective. GMP regulations require a quality approach to manufacturing, enabling companies to minimize or eliminate instances of contamination, mix-ups and errors. This in turn, protects the consumer from purchasing a product which is not effective or even dangerous. Failure of firms to comply with GMP regulations can result in very serious consequences including recall, seizure, fines and jail time.

The United States Pharmacopeia (USP) is an official public standards-setting authority for all prescriptions and over-the-counter medicines and other health care products manufactured or sold in the United States. USP also sets widely recognized standards for food ingredients and dietary supplements. USP sets standards for the quality, purity, strength and consistency of these products – critical to the public health. USP standards are recognized and used in more than 130 countries around the globe. These standards have helped to ensure public health throughout the world for close to 200 years.
