THE NEW BROCHURE IS ON LINE.
Please visit http://www.dermapet.com or call 800-755-4738 for DIRECT sales. We also sell via select distributors such as Burns (http://www.burnsvet.com), NLS, MWI (http://www.mwivet.com), PVP, Merritt and Vetpo. We now can provide you a dominant distributor anywhere you may be in the USA (including Alaska and Hawaii). We are also available in Japan, Thailand, Korea and soon in Europe.
Come visit us at the Central Veterinary Conference (Booth 1303 at the CVC in KC). Then we go to San Francisco for the Fourth World Veterinary Dermatology Conference (WCVD4) from August 30-September 4. For a couple days in between, we will do a enological tour lead by Mike Bethard DVM of Napa in his home locale. I am sure that we will find none better than the Rosenblum wine served by Kent Rosenblum DVM at the WCVD4, featured at the Streets of San Francisco night and in a private suite at the Hilton on Friday night. The Friday night suite is by special invitation so just come by the DermaPet booth there or bring this newsletter-even if not registered- to get one. Kent promises to showcase some of his excellent collection. Let me remind you that his Zinfandels are recognized as amongst the best in the world.
Tip of the month
MYRINGOTOMY. The placement of a hole in the tympanic membrane, preferably on the ventral aspect between 5 & 7 through the pars tensa. The purpose should be to allow access to the middle ear for culture, drainage, medication, lavage or biopsy. When you place the incision ventrally, you avoid the vascular pars flaccida allowing for quicker re-growth. I prefer to use the tip of a tom cat catheter, cut along the edge to make it sharper.
The MalAcetic Wet Wipes (containing 2% acetic and 2% boric acids) have emerged as our most rapidly growing product. LASER WIPES, tear stains, post surgical wound cleansing, Dermatophilus and spots on horses (grease heel) are new indications. Every pet-owner should have a container on hand for a needy moment. For LASER WIPES, we recommend cleansing with MalAcetic Wet Wipes 1-2x daily to remove the surface debris seen postoperatively. (Editor's note: This indication was described by none other than Daniel Fields of American Veterinary Laser (AVL) also known as Luxar. He has been getting some anecdotal reports about the benefit of using the MalAcetic Wet Wipes post laser surgery.). More on the Laser Wipes and, perhaps, surgery to follow in future newsletters.
SPECIALS
We hope you heard the marketing on MalAcetic vs. Malaseb (DVM). We are advising all that is said about Malaseb efficacy is true about MalAcetic of which we have FOUR (4) products rather than one- MalAcetic Shampoo, Ear/Skin Cleanser, MalAcetic Wet Wipe and MalAcetic Conditioner,. These are all natural, safer and clean, brighten and degrease better. Plus, it's EXTREMELY UNLIKELY they'll ever be able to make Malaseb for the ear or eye where it can cause serious permanent adverse reactions.
Yada Yada Yada
While on the trade show route, we spent 3 weekends doing conferences on the West Coast in Portland, OR, Las Vegas, NV and Salt Lake City. At the first two, sponsored by MedRex, Lou Gotthelf led a particularly interesting Ear seminar including a wet lab; he's doing these all over the US now. In Salt Lake City, I enjoyed meeting with geriatric guru, Johnny Hoskins. In between, we got to visit the beautiful San Diego where the climate is just about ideal; thank you MWI for having a meeting there. This month, we visit San Antonio, Portland (again!) and Omaha for sales meetings. Having traveled the world let me share one tip: there's no place as beautiful as the USA.
