New Products **DentAcetic Coming Soon* *Wet Wipes in Clinic Size**

DentAcetic Natural Toothgel with Sodium hexametaphosphate. You may ask, "Why vinegar in a dental product? " For starters, it has a broad range of antimicrobial activity, is an excellent degreaser and non-toxic-especially as compared to chlorhexidine. Did you ever hear anyone say "Pass the chlorhexidine" at a salad bar? As a side note, this product has been under development and testing for over 2 years.

The MalAcetic Wet Wipes will soon be available as Laser Wipes (conceived of by DANIEL FIELDS of ESC/Sharplan aka Luxar) and in a CLINIC SIZE which will be 33% stronger and bigger at 6 by 7 inches in 100 towelette containers.

Yada, Yada, Yada

The Pan Am Conference in Panama was presided over by NICANOR OBALDIA, a most gracious host. There were several people from the USA, notably JIMMY NOXON (ISU) who I met with briefly the morning after I arrived on his way to the airport. DALE LONSFORD (President, TVMA) was also on the program as well as many other non-derm food animal types. Two people, REGINA RAMANDINA (Rio) and ALEXIS BERROCAL (Costa Rica), were in SF at the WCVD4 and also in Panama. The colorful Dr. Berrocal, a vet dermatologist, led a large and very active contingent from Costa Rico of students and practitioners. LEOPOLDO ESTOL (Argentina), dean of a private vet school in Buenos Aires, FRANCISCO LACOS (Guadalajara vet school) and JULIO BRUNES (Tamaulipas, Mexico, vet school) joined many others from Central and South America. For you cigar lovers, they meet again in 2002 in Havanna, Cuba.

More on Panama: It has always been a DermaPet theme to use natural remedies. To that end, Dr. Obaldia took me to GAMBOA into the rainforest where I searched for natural remedies and viewed some very healthy wildlife; highlights were a crocodile egg, the snake exhibit and a breathtaking butterfly enclosed ecosytem. It appears the indians have some interesting plants that they "paint" on themselves for itching and inflammation. DermaPet is looking closely at these natural substances for applications in veterinary medicine.

CHUCK MICHAELS, back from Alaska, is off to Oklahoma then Atlantic City and Reno. Next month we go to Kauai for the GEORGE MULLER Veterinary Dermatology Conference hosted by the WCVD4 President, PETER IHRKE. Then it's the HVMA in Honolulu. The frequent flyer miles are adding up!

MedRx is offering CE doing their EAR Seminars on the road in New Orleans on October 29, St Louis on November 5 and Ft Lauderdale on November 12. Be there to hear LOU GOTTHELF teach you the latest, state of the art otology. Ears represent the #1 complaint of petowners to vets (VPI insurance claims, 2000). Call Kenny Keith at 888-392-1234 to register or find out when one is coming near you.

Tidbits of knowledge

At the WCVD4

Craig Griffin in his Otitis seminar had great words about TrizEDTA and products with 2% acetic acid (note our Ear/Skin Cleanser and MalAcetic products with 2% acetic AND 2% boric acids). Lynette Cole (OSU) also had nice words for TrizEDTA in the Ear workshop. Also, thank you Rod Rosychuck (CSU) for plugging a few of our products, notably the MalAcetic Wet Wipes.

The MalAcetic Wet Wipes (containing 2% acetic and 2% boric acids) have emerged as our most rapidly growing product. It has been brought to our attention that DermaPet will be recognized as a pioneer in this class of products by other companies who will also be making wet wipes. Imitation is the sincerest from of flattery. One "southern" vet dermatologist has said it keeps her Cocker "clean". Rod Rosychuck gave them a favorable mention in his talk to the Japanese at the WCVD4.
