New Products **DentAcetic coming Soon* *Wet Wipes in Clinic Size**

DentAcetic Natural Toothgel with Sodium hexametaphosphate. You may ask, "Why vinegar in a dental product? " For starters, it has a broad range of antimicrobial activity, is an excellent degreaser and non-toxic-especially as compared to chlorhexidine - and will prevent calculi formation. Did you ever hear anyone say "Pass the chlorhexidine" at a salad bar? As a side note, this product has been under development and testing for over 2 years with veterinary dentists.

The MalAcetic Wet Wipes are NOW available as Laser Wipes (conceived of by DANIEL FIELDS of ESC/ Sharplan aka Luxar). They are also in a CLINIC SIZE which will be 33% stronger and 25% larger at 6 by 7 inches in 100 towelette containers. We are taking orders for the Clinic Size MalAcetic Wet Wipes NOW. The Special Introductory price is $13.99 per bottle in boxes of 6. **BUY 5 and get the 6th FREE**

Exerpts from WWVC Proceedings

Rod A. W. ROSYCHUCK DVM, Colorado State What works for me in the management of Otitis Externa \ media

Ear Cleaning
"At home" cleansing, done by the owners, is favored for most management protocols. "Flushes" most commonly used by the author in presence of perforated tympanum are cleanser/dryers , vinegar and and DermaPet ear \skin cleanser ( 2% acetic acid, 2% boric acid; DermaPet inc. , Potomac, MD; especially for ears complicated by Malassezia infections.

Refractory Malassezia pachydermatis infections
A 2% acetic acid /2% boric acid solution (DermaPet) has proven to be a good flush for this problem and is used as a long term, routine therapy to minimize recurrence.

Exerpts from Small Anim Derm 6th Ed

On Bacterial treatments (pp1227): "Treatment options are available that do not depend on alternative antibiotics, but frequent cleaning should not be forgotten. Presoaking the ear with tromethamine-ethylenediamineteraacetic acid (TrizEDTA, DermaPet) for 5 to 10 minutes or mixing gentamicin at 3 mg\ml with tris EDTA increases the efficacy against gram-negative organisms... TrizEDTA has also been shown to be synergistic with amikacin, neomycin, cephaloridine, kanendomycin and enrofloxacin. TrizEDTA can be valuable in long term treatment and prevention of recurrence as part of an ear cleaning regimen or as a presoak before installation of antibiotics (usually 2 or 3 times a week).

Yada, Yada, Yada

Bad news first. Good friends DAN SCOTT (the Dan Scott company) and DANIEL FIELDS (ESC Sharplan/ Luxar) were in a terrible auto accident in Montreal. Both are bedridden with broken pelvises (amongst other fractures) incurred while driving in a taxi which was hit by a drunken driver. Dan's son, CHRIS fractured his leg and was wearing a collar as he toughed out working in Reno. I'm sure we all wish them a speedy recovery. ATLANTIC CITY. The Atlantic Coast Conference

RICHARD FORD helped out Vet Learning Systems both of whom, we have sadly been informed, will not be back in AC next year. GLORIA Melman was "heard" winning 500 quarters on the Wheel of Fortune as witnessed by DEB HOROWITZ, the behavior speaker. Deb had to advise her audience to not laugh so loudly at her many one liners and cute videos as the people in the adjacent rooms were trying to be concentrate. JAN BELLOWS did a dental seminar and was seen jogging along the boards. MIKE SOLLARS (Vet Forum publisher) enjoyed a White House hoagie with us.

RENO. Wild West Vet Conference.

CHUCK MICHAELS, our all pro Sales Manager/Renaissance man, sat next to ROD ROSYCHUCK (CSU) from Denver to Reno. Observing Rod's reading material, Chuck pulled out LOU GOTTHELF'S book and asked if he'd seen it. CHUCK was advised that one of our more well known competitors was offering $200 to NOT allow him to ride with them. This being a competitor who does not always dwell on the merits of their products nor the truth about ours to sell against us. Even if it weren't just a violation of various federal laws, some of those reps feel they should have offered a whole lot more.

RON WHITFORD was invited to speak at both conventions. He was seen walking the aisles with RALPH LEE whose Myrtle Beach Conference is growing ever so fast. Word is PETER IHRKE will be there this year (last year was RICHARD HALLIWELL).

MICHAEL CHUMARU of Red Rock Vet Clinic, Las Vegas said when treating Malassezia otitis, the difference between our Ear/Skin Cleanser and what he WAS previously using is that before the cytology was the same before and after. Now, after using our Protocols, the cytology is negative when they return.

KRISTI FISHER (purrdoc@home.com), Rancho Santa Margarita, CA wants people to know she cured a cat with Eosinophilic Granuloma Complex/ Rodent Ulcer with antibiotics and Wet Wipes. She tried them as a last ditch hope backing off from repeated depomedrol injections.

EDDIE GARCIA (egarcia@petsvetsandyou.com) of Tampa, FL lectured on Conflict Resolution. Those of you who have visited DermaPet at some trade shows have noticed Gloria, my wife, working hard at the booth; Eddie got to our booth just in time. Later, Gloria won again on her last slot machine pull as witnessed by MOLLY WISE of VLS and KENNY KEITH of MedRx.

JOHN TINGUS, NIKKI MASTIN and YAEL MARRA of VIN were seen "weighing" their tab at Andiamo's. Also saying hello was MIKE SCRIVEN, new sales manager, of VSSI.

MedRx is offering CE doing their EAR Seminars on the road in, St Louis on November 5 and Ft Lauderdale on November 12 and New York, December 10. Be there to hear LOU GOTTHELF teach you the latest, state of the art otology. Ears represent the #1 complaint of petowners to vets (VPI insurance claims, 2000). Call Kenny Keith at 888-392-1234 to register or find out when one is coming near you.

DermaPet will be at the George Muller Derm Conference (with DOUG DEBOER, WAYNE ROSENKRANTZ AND STEPHEN WHITE) in Kauai, the Hawaii VMA in Honolulu and the MWI national meeting in Scottsdale in November. Then on to the Penn vet school in Philadelphia dor the SCAVMA auction where JESSICA Melman is the chairperson this year.

The MalAcetic Wet Wipes (containing 2% acetic and 2% boric acids) have emerged as our most rapidly growing product. It has been brought to our attention that DermaPet will be recognized as a pioneer in this class of products by other companies who will also be making wet wipes. Imitation is the sincerest fpom of flattery. One "southern" vet dermatologist has said it keeps her Cocker "clean". Rod Rosychuck gave them a favorable mention in his talk to the Japanese at the WCVD4.
