EicosaDerm as an Appetite Stimulant and with Cancer

Early reports support EicosaDerm as an appetite stimulant due to its high palatability. Especially in onco and geriatric cases, it is important to maintain the appetite. We suggest placing it on the top of food.

"Omega 6 Fatty acids may interfere with cancer healing", says many oncology experts based on many scientific publications while omega 3 fatty acids help fight cancer. This supports the use of our EicosaDerm, the most potent omega 3 fatty acid supplement containing no omega 6 FAs.

Apparently excess heat changes the omega 3 fatty acids to a trans form, which is undesirable. Thus dry dog food as a reliable high dose source is unlikely. We have noted some dry dog foods that claim to contain all the n3 fatty acids necessary despite not detailing even the approximate amount of EPA or DHA on the label. Attempts to find the exact amount have been met the answer that they are "proprietary." It would seem difficult to ensure consistency in dosage of fatty acids if sprayed after 'processing', which may explain the lack of forthrightness by reputed dog food manufacturers. Some experts are now suggesting adding additional omega 3 fatty acids at recommended rates similar to what is on the EicosaDerm label.

Atlantic City/ ACVC

Run by a hardworking, unassuming group that just wants to run a good meeting in AC. Although as early as a couple years ago, they appeared to be struggling, this meeting has emerged to be the dominant one in the affluent Northeast

My seminars on 7 Steps to Treating Ears and Shampoo Therapy went well with so many people that some had to sit on the floor. In the tradition of the heavily demanded, much traveled LOU GOTTHELF arrived late the night before his seminar. DONAVAN VEZIN again seemed to be everywhere during the program and social events. BOB GORDON saved a cat toy from an embarrassed woman who thought they were free samples. MICHELLE BEZJAK and JACK WHITE both looked at me and said no way they were retrieving it. Old golf buddy MARK GIBSON (Brooklyn), LORRAINE ELWOOD (FL) and "Mustang" SALLY HADDOCK (NYC) seemed to be in the center of most activity. JESSICA MELMAN visited from 4th year Penn duties to help work the booth. STEVE JOSEPH (IVD) and wife LINDA celebrating another anniversary danced with rhythm and passion at the pasta party.

Kona Hawaii/ George Muller Derm Meeting

A costume contest/opening reception was won by BRENDA BASTIEN (Ontario) who was a convincing Devil and ERIC WESTHEIMER (LA) who took great effort in being a Demodex in Paradise. CHICK WERNER and PAT HUMPHREY made the finals in a cave man/woman costume.

Golf was enjoyed by a talented group of 20. DAN LARSEN (UT), yours truly (YT), TOM WILLIAMS (Monterey) and CHUCK YEE (Accuderm) played; Dan, Tom and YT got our money's worth with too many shots to describe. CHUCK and I joined VIRGIL TRAYNOR and DON KLINGBORN on another 18. Virgil and Chuck did well. I have been sworn to secrecy about Don's game lest my booth be moved to another hotel during next year's meeting. I can say he could win it all next year if the rest of his game catches up with his putting. Kudos to Don whose son is President elect of the CVMA although rumors of a name change to the KVMA are unrealistic--for the moment-:)

GLORIA and I went snorkeling at a spot called "Refuge" where the sea was covered with coral, deep water and FISH. TOM WILLIAMS (the Monterey Aquarium vet who was in attendance) rightly advised us to bring a bag of frozen peas which THE FISH, much to my amusement, attacked on sight. Turtles left the peas alone, being content with feeding stations on rocks. Gloria helped a distressed, first time snorkeler, who should have picked a safer spot to learn, swim in from deep water.

At the final party sponsored by Bayer, at a table with PETER IHRKE and the other speakers, we pondered Election Day and what we could do for the growing Asian contingent led by the Japanese and Koreans.

Those who share my thinking that more behavior at derm meetings would be welcomed should let it be known.

MARY JOHNSON (MWI rep from Vegas) and husband JAY HOLT (Vegas vet), MARV JOHNSON (IA), AMC alum TERRY COSGROVE, AL SEARS (Lancaster) and PENN classmate, ED MOLESWORTH (Baltimore) were but a few of the 220 who attended. MICHELLE NOTHNAGEL (IVD) was seen towing good-baby JAKE everywhere.

The following letter is about our DentAcetic pads by an internationally known board certified dentist. It is followed by my observations of meetings in Nice and Granada. We are also quite pleased with the release and acceptance of our EicosaDerm, the highest potency omega 3 fatty acid on the market.

I've had the pleasure to use DentAcetic Wipes (DermaPet Inc.) in my practice for the past twelve months as a home care product to help control plaque. Overall the client and patient acceptance of the wipes have been positive as well as the apparent control of plaque when used daily.

My clients like the smell and ease of use. They appreciate that their pets enjoy the taste and smell, as well. I still believe that daily tooth brushing is the best way to control plaque, but for whatever reason most clients cannot get the tooth brushing process down so they do nothing and the patient suffers. With the DentAcetic Wipes, the overall client/patient experience is pleasant which reinforces compliance. Compliance, of course, is the key to pet dental home care.

In the exam room I remove one of the pads from the container and show the client how easy it is to use in a circular rubbing fashion on the buccal surfaces of the cheek teeth. Then I usually explain that the wipes contain sodium hexametaphosphate (HMP) which decrease the mineralization of plaque to calculus. Acetic Acid is also a sequestering and cleansing agent which decreases topical plaque.

The DentAcetic Wipes have worked well in my practice and I plan to continue to use and recommend the product as part of our home care program.
