DermaPet Mission Statement
In support of the use of DENTEES STARS, PETER EMILY, at his dental wet lab at the SEVC in Myrtle Beach, noted that that 38% of dogs were less than 20 pounds and that these tiny pets represent the majority of dental practice. He gave the following explanation.
Once bacteria gets within 1/2 mm of bone in the gingival sulcus you get active bone resorption which continues until bone density is 1.5-2 mm thick. Continued bone loss leads to tooth mobility and subsequent tooth loss. The loss of the bone further reduces the resistance to the advance of bacteria. They then can be seen to have reduced bone density, which, of course, may lead to further complications including loss of the tooth. Further, these pets seem to live longer than their larger counterparts thus having even more disproportional bone resorption. He further explained that this bone resorption is from a byproduct of neutrophil metabolism, usually IL-1 and prostaglandins, which are catalytic to bone. (ed note: Conclusion: Feed your dogs and cats DENTEES to prevent dental disease.)
KEN LYON, AVDC wrote "Keep in mind that clove derivatives are essential oils. Eugenol and thymol are essential oils which are derivatives of clove oil and have a natural and potent antibacterial effect, which is why thymol is found in products like Listerine and why eugenol is used in root canal therapy in the gutta percha and many root canal sealers. The eugenol works as an obtundant and antimicrobial... this sounds like a good product. Clove oil has stood the test of time and has been identified in ancient root canal patients and in Egyptian canoptic jars used to preserve tissues."

To: PETER IHRKE"S DISCIPLES (and anyone else so bored as to read this section). What happened in Myrtle Beach stays in Myrtle Beach. MB had all the potential of KC. PETER, personally dubbed the Dick Clark of the derm world, and I, were driven around by designated driver, JAY MAIDEN on night one. The two of us split an amazing bottle of 1997 Silver Oak, Alexander Valley, Cab Sauv. We contemplated a few derms who would have liked to have shared it with us including Hans, Richard and Didier. Night two, we had a much less of a gourmet dining experience, eating at the Springmaid cafeteria, conceding an early, quiet evening. Best laid plans. We then proceeded to view a Karaoke contest, contemplated a gong and one for the derm meeting. Ever so PC, Peter didn't want to hurt any derms feelings using a gong; he was not so PC about those who howled during the karaoke contest. BRIAN LING of the Festival Animal Clinic in Belair, Maryland won a free trip back next year.
PETER EMILY and BOB WIGGS presented world class dental lecture and wet labs. I credit Peter with coining the term "Odofactant" and identifying grapefruit seed extract, a key component in DENTEES, as the best breath 'deodorant.' GARY NORDSWORTHY and DANNY SCOTT also lectured.
The golf tournament was on narrow and watery Indigo Hills. PETE BEAMAN, who played with HOWIE LEE, LOU GOTHELF and YT shot a 72 despite not making a long putt. In our annual match, Howie beat me 1 up, however, having parred the last hole despite hitting a bridge, I out bet him on a press so no money changed hands,. Howie was seen wondering what happened later that night. Lou was most improved holing 2 birdies despite still belonging to the century club. BILL SLAPPEY of Merritt had an exciting Hole-in-one.

DermaPet Is Pleased To Announce DenTees
DermaPet is pleased to announce DenTees, another new patent pending product to extend our patented DentAcetic line.
Almost 38% of all dogs in the U.S. are small dogs. DenTees Stars offer these tiny pets a limited antigen treat which will help their teeth by applying our dental patent (hexametaphosphate and acetic acid), clove, and the latest and best Odofactant as a breath freshener. We use no dye nor fragrance and process DenTees in the most natural way via extrusion. Their shape lends them to work best to physically remove dental plaque while applying ingredients that coat the teeth and prevent future mineralization and bacterial colonization.
The clove taste, smell and function will be a prominent feature much like the peach is to our MalAcetic Otic and Wipe. Clove is a universally pleasant smell associated with dental products for ages. It is therapeutic as a mild analgesic which soothes the gums. It works on breath as a mouth deodorant and neutralizing stomach acids.
DenTees Stars are for the petite dog and cat. They are packaged in 4oz bags,
packed 12 bags per box. The DenTees Chew, packed 12 chews/bag, 12 bags/box is
for dogs over 6 months. DenTees boxes are POPs, designed to be assembled for
display in the veterinary clinic
DenTees Stars are priced for the vet at $4.49/bag while the Regular size is
$6.99/bag, both in cases of 12.
