MalAcetic HC Technical Bulletin

MALACETIC AP is now available, by popular demand, in a 16 ounce size (6 bottles/case). The AP is the only otic we know of on the market with absolutely no propylene glycol. It is also for those who prefer the pleasant apple scent over our popular peach.

TECHNICAL BULLETINS are available for MALACETIC, MALACETIC HC and TRIZEDTA on our web site and in print. Please ask your TM or distributor for a hard copy.

The following is the text of our MalAcetic HC Technical Bulletin. For the full four color version with references please go to MalAcetic HC Technical Bulletin

MalAcetic® HC Technical Bulletin

MalAcetic® HC is an exciting concept in aural health from DermaPet.

Why Use MalAcetic® HC?

MalAcetic® HC bridges the gap between ear cleaning and topical ear treatments. Competitor's products only address the Perpetuating Factors that contribute to otitis such as infection. MalAcetic® HC has the power to deal with infection1, 2, 3, 4 but can directly deal with the Primary Triggers which underlie all cases of otitis2. It is well recognized that up to 90% of all canine ear disease is caused by allergy.2, 3

Treatment with MalAcetic® HC should not stop once the infection has resolved, it should continue to keep the dog comfortable and prevent recurrence. Leading dermatologists suggest that maintenance therapy for allergic dogs should not only contain components to prevent infection returning but, just as importantly, a gentle anti-inflammatory to treat the allergic process directly. Using MalAcetic® HC regularly not only treats and helps prevent recurrent infections but helps reduce allergic itch which can be debilitating for dog and owner alike.

Product Description

This unique product encompasses:
1. The antibacterial action of acetic acid
2. The anti-yeast activity of boric acid
3. The soothing properties of hydrocortisone

MalAcetic® HC's dual mode of action helps:

We recommend long term cleaning of the ears of any dog with recurrent otitis externa. Aim to cleanse the ears once or twice weekly on a long term basis to keep the pet comfortable. A 2 oz. bottle of MalAcetic® HC should last a pet 4-8 weeks if used for maintenance.

Available in 2 oz. and 8 oz. bottles, 12 per case.

Yada, Yada

ORLANDO, 25th TNAVC

The best conference of the year, every year, once again brought almost 16,000 attendees including 5,988 vet and 1745 techs, 711 practice managers and 3799 exhibitors from all over the world. Congrats go to DONNA GINDY (Director of Exhibits and Marketing, and Colin Burrows, Exec Director and all their staff and officers.

The Fourth Annual Otology Symposium once again had standing room only with numerous people sitting in the aisles and outside watching on the monitors. LOU GOTTHELF and ROD ROSYCHUK presented their views on how to approach acute and chronic, Malassezia and Gram negative otitis cases. Naturally, ROD talked about rods.

PETER IHRKE while remembering the merits of LIMEPLUS Dip told me it took him 43 hours from Davis to Orlando. IAN BARCLAY attended from the UK and represented SUE PATERSON from DermaPet UK. JACK and the rest of the DermaPet team (AL LINGUA, JAY MAIDEN and DOTTIE ASMUSSEN) had the pleasure of dining with JEANETTE DAIGLE, ROD, RANDY LEFEBRE and LEE TYNER (Mississippi State). LOU had travel delays. We unfortunately just missed seeing VALERIE FADOK, who will also be in Vegas at WVC. We did see RANDY THOMAS and DOUG DEBOER. LINDA JACOBSON and ALICE WOLF visited.
